The Montreal Canadiens will be without Mike Matheson on Tuesday night.
The defenceman will not suit up for Montreal's game against the Philadelphia Flyers, according to Sportsnet's Eric Engels, and is considered day-to-day with an upper-body injury.
Matheson, 31, had yet to miss a game this season, appearing in all 32 contests while recording four goals and 12 assists, going plus-seven and averaging 24:54 of ice time.
A native of Pointe-Claire, Que., Matheson signed a five-year, $30-million contract extension with the Canadiens in November.
Meanwhile, rookie goalie Jacob Fowler will make his third career start — and first in Montreal — after he was recalled from the American Hockey League's Laval Rocket one week ago.
The 21-year-old American made 36 saves in his debut, helping the Canadiens win 4-2 over the Pittsburgh Penguins last Thursday.
He then lost his first game Saturday as Montreal squandered a 3-0 lead in a 5-4 overtime defeat to the New York Rangers.
Montreal enters Tuesday's matchup third in the Atlantic Division with a 17-11-4 record. Philadelphia, meanwhile, will be looking to break a three-game losing streak.
